About Us
Volunteer leaders for Aird Scout Troop, part of 7th Inverness (Kirkhill) Scout Group, provide a range of adventurous activities on a weekly basis, during term time, for 10 ½ to 14 year-olds from Kirkhill, Kiltarlity, Beauly and Drumnadrochit.
Meetings take place on Thursday evenings, 7:15pm to 9pm in Kiltarlity Village Hall, but we also like to be out and about as much as we can!
Unfortunately, the forthcoming departure of Aird Scout Leader, Paul Whitefoot, from regular weekly volunteering will leave the section at risk of closing down at the end of the summer term, without additional help.
About Scouting
Through the adventure of Scouting, young people get to take risks in a safe environment, and have their first taste of responsibility. We give young people experiences they’ll never forget. In Scouting, we can provide over 200 activities from abseiling to zorbing. If we don’t have an instructor who can help we can normally find someone who can. But Scouting isn’t just about activities for their own sake. We encourage our young people to feel the buzz of the challenge and then reflect on what that means. Did they have fun? Do they feel more confident? Would they do it again?
All this is made possible by the efforts of 100s of voluntary adult leaders. With award winning training and one-to-one support, we make sure that each volunteer gets to make the best use of their skills and talents. It’s something different from the norm, and that’s why a lot of people like it. In fact, it’s what’s made scouting the largest co-educational youth Movement in the country.
Take the Lead – We Need You…
We want to continue to provide the opportunities Scouting has to offer our local community – in order to do this we need adults to help support the existing Scout team.
Volunteering with us is easy, fun and flexible – how much time you give is completely up to you. You don’t have to be an adventurer like Bear Grylls to get involved with Scouting and you don’t need to know everything about Scouting…you just need the energy, enthusiasm and ability to inspire young people. We’ll provide full training, induction and on-going support.
