Going from strength to strength, Saturday 26th Feb saw the 2nd village market of 2011. Now held in the school hall on the last Saturday of the month, the village market is a chance to get stocked up on a range of locally produced food and crafts as well as toys, books and plants.
Some of the stalls on Saturday included;
- Rowanhill Natural Crafts, based between Ardfern Nursery and Lentran who were selling handmade jams, marmalades, jellies and chutneys.
- Loch Ness Smoke House, based in Drumnadrochit who produce dry cured and traditionally smoked back bacon sold in a number of local delis and shops.
- Interforth Ltd, a local farm selling eggs and poultry.
- Strathpeffer Artisan Bread who are able to deliver freshly baked bread to your home or workplace.
- David Hendry Landscapes with a range of plants and garden products. David currently has a supply of empty and plant filled half whisky barrels for sale. Anyone interested can get David on 01463 831114.
- Fairtrade stall, organised by some of the Kirkhill school pupils involved with the Fairtrade project.
There were a number of other stalls with crafts, books and knitting, including the scouts who had a stall to help raise funds for their Easter camp.
There was certainly a buzz on Saturday with Mike Edwards who is organising the market pleased that over a hundred people had popped by. The next market will be held on the 26th March between 10.00 and 12.00 in the school hall. In addition to the above stalls there will also be a chance for you to buy fresh west coast fish and shellfish.
